arom oilsThe Aromatherapy service is available free of charge for vulnerable elderly and disabled people living in Newcastle upon Tyne, who are able to travel in for the service.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils made from plants and herbs.  A qualified Aromatherapist will choose oils, which meet with the individuals need. Massaging these oils into the body, can help with muscular aches and pains, rheumatism, arthritis, poor circulation and similar conditions.

Aromatherapy handsThis service operates every Monday and Friday by appointment only.

Massages provided include:

Hand Massage: The time taken to perform this massage on both hands may vary but will average 15 minutes. It's ideal for arthritis, stiff joints and rheumatism.

Foot Massage: The time taken to perform this massage on both feet may vary but will average 15 minutes. These procedures DO NOT involve any practices carried out by a Chiropodist. It is ideal for tired feet, arthritis, stiff joints and rheumatism, chillblains and poor circulation.

Indian Head Massage: The area covered is the full head, the neck and the shoulders. (Shoulders may be massaged independently if requested.)  Oils are occasionally used for this massage. The process stimulates the scalp and helps to reduce stress and tension. The Indian Head Massage process takes around 30 minutes depending on the individual.

Full or Part Body Massage: A deep tissue massage for the whole body or part of the body for example the back, or the legs. This massage typically lasts for 30-60 minutes. This is ideal for aches and pains in joints and muscles as well as poor circulation, arthritis and rheumatism. It can also be beneficial for insomnia, low mood, skin conditions and lymphatic drainage (removal of toxins).
