About us

Caring Hands Charity is a volunteer led registered charity established since 1992 and registered in 1994.

Our Trustees:

The charity is managed by a team of volunteer Trustees with skills and expertise in various fields including social care, finance, community regeneration and local knowledge. They meet at least once every month to evaluate the work carried out, and consider future projects alongside existing services.

The Trustees work hard to maintain the high standards that people expect from us.  They agree that listening to our beneficiaries is a very important. It plays a vital role in the design and development of all services, most importantly, it helps us to provide what people say they need, not what we think is needed.

Our Patron:

Our most recent patron was the Right Reverend Lord Bishop of Newcastle upon Tyne Bishop Martin, he has been a great support to our charity over the many years of our existence. We look forward to a new appointed in the near future. Watch our News page for details.

Our wide ranging team of volunteers consists of both young and old, from students to pensioners. They offer their time, skills and expertise freely to directly support our services.

We have always depended primarily on grants from Trusts and Foundations to support our financial needs, and we also work hard to generate around 30% towards our income from services and donations. We have contractual agreements with Newcastle Adult and Culture Services.

Our Mission Statement

To sustain the independence and quality of life of older and disabled people, who live mainly, but not exclusively, in the East End of Newcastle upon Tyne, through the active support of volunteers.

Our Commitment to Quality

Caring Hands Charity aims to provide services in which:

  • The highest possible standards of support are provided
  • The rights and satisfaction of all our users are paramount
  • The rights and satisfaction of our volunteers, trustees and staff are protected
